If There Were No After Life
Whether there’s afterlife, the answer has never been the same. The atheists deny after life, believing that our life is no more than from the cradle to the grave. They may care about their illustrious names after death; they may feel attached to the affection of their offspring, but they never lay their hopes on their afterlife. They may also say that good will be rewarded with good, and evil with evil, but they don’t really believe any retribution in their after life.
However, in the religious world or among the superstitious people, the belief in afterlife is very popular. They do not only believe in afterlife, but thousands of reincarnations as well. In the mysterious world, there are the paradise and the hell, the celestial beings and the gods, the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas.
Maybe they really believed it, or maybe they just wanted to make use of people’s veneration, the ancient emperors always declared that they were the real dragons, the sons of God, while the royal ministers claimed to be the reincarnations of various constellations. But can the stars reincarnate?
Many people burn incense and kowtow, do good deeds and strive for virtues, not just for the present, but mainly to let God see their sincerity so as to be reborn into a better afterlife, or to achieve the highest enlightenment after several lives of practice. They do believe in afterlife. But I can’t help asking: Suppose there were no afterlife, would you still do good deeds and strive for virtues? And If God does not see what you are doing, would you still be so upright and selfless? If you work, not for serving the public and liberating the others, but just for a better afterlife of your own, isn’t it a little too selfish? Comparing with this kind of believers, those who don’t believe in afterlife, but still keep doing good deeds, are the most sincere and honest philanthropists, because they do them not for themselves but for other.
You may wonder if I believe in afterlife. My answer is: I know nothing about my previous life, so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife. But I do hope there’s afterlife! Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. I have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. If there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!
I’m not contented with the present commonplace life, I’m very much attached to the affections that should have been mine but have been washed away by the hurrying time, and I yearn for the perfection and maturity if I could start all over again. So believe it or not, I’d rather there were afterlife.

the principal of the school focuses on education rather than waste time in endless meetings and social activities. teachers’ wages are not high but enough to live comfortably. there are no other things to do except to teach. there are no paper requirements, no titles and no ranks because they don’t need to be judged by those things. almost every teacher is a well-known scholar and master in a particular field. a language teacher may be a writer at the same time. a math teacher may try to overcome a world-class guess. a physics teacher can win invention awards and a music teacher may return from an international music competition again.
in short, in this school, the principal is satisfied, the teachers are happy and the students are joyful. that’s my dream.

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,"Richness, can you take me with you?"
Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"
"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."
"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"
"It was Time," Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

Do I Need To Like Myself?
Yes! People who don't like themselves are a pain in the neck!
Usually, people with a poor self-image use one of two irritating strategies. They either:
a) criticize you a lot or
b) they criticize themselves a lot.
STRATEGY A: They criticize you a lot. They figure that by criticizing other people they can feel better about themselves.
Let's take Fred, who feels inferior. Fred thinks he has a big nose and piggy eyes. He also secretly feels a bit stupid.
So what's his strategy to feel better about himself? He criticizes all his friends. He has names for them like “Flathead”, “Chicken Legs” and “Dogbrain”. Whenever someone else makes a mistake, he announces it to the whole class. (He probably doesn't even realize he criticizes people—or why he does it.)
If you have parents, friends or brothers and sisters who don't like themselves—they might criticize you and everyone around them. Just remember that they criticize you because they have a problem. If you remember that they are actually hurting inside, you won't get so upset by their behaviour.
STRATEGY B: Some people who don't like themselves criticize themselves a lot. They use reverse psychology...
Take Mary who doesn't like herself. She's always telling you, “You are prettier than me. You are smarter. Nobody likes me.” She's hoping that you will reply, “No Mary! You are clever. You are beautiful.” After a while, people like Mary get on your nerves!
In a nutshell
When we don't like ourselves, we irritate other people. We also put ourselves through a lot of stress. When we accept ourselves a little better, we don't play these games.
How Can I Like Myself﹖
In our hearts, most of us believe we should be doing better. We think that we should have gotten higher grades. We want to be popular and hang out with the “in” crowd. We feel we don't measure up to our parents' expectations. Our parents help to confirm this idea when they ask, “Why can't you be more like your brother?”
Whenever you are feeling low, be your own best friend. Accept that, up to now, you have lived your life the best way you know how. No one sets out to screw up their life! Like anyone, you've done the odd stupid thing. With more information you'll likely do better in the future.
Liking yourself means forgiving yourself. If you have made some serious mistakes, if you have hurt some people—and yourself—feeling guilty won't help.
If you are feeling guilty about something, you have already suffered enough. Being guilty for another six months won't help anybody.
Forget perfection and aim for improvement.
It's a funny thing. When you forgive yourself for your own mistakes, you automatically begin to let others off the hook for the same things.
“But I'm Not Brilliant...”
You might look at yourself and say, “I'm not as beautiful as my sister, I'm not as talented as my friends and I'm not brilliant at anything! How can I feel good about me?”
Fact: Nobody is good at everything and most of us have those thoughts!
But here's the lowdown! Talent and beauty are very useful—but there are plenty of talented and beautiful people around whom we don't necessarily admire. And some of them are a pan in the butt!
The qualities most of us value above all others are honesty, courage, persistence, generosity and humility. Take a look at this list and you'll find something interesting. You aren't born with these things. You develop them. Anyone can have them! If you want self-respect, and respect from others, you don't have to be an Einstein or a super-model.
You simply work at developing your own honesty, determination, generosity, humility and courage. It is called “character”.

It is easy to describe success in terms of money, fame and reputation. But I believe that success is not external. I believe that success comes from within. My definition of success is to be true to yourself, and be true to others. That means, that you must cherish your personal ideal even in the face of adversity. I also believe that success is not discriminatory. Success is not restricted to such a class of people, in fact, it may be achieved by any person irrespective of his race, creed, gender and economic background. A good example of success is that of Beethoven. He is one of the world's most famous composers, yet he was deaf. He could not hear the majestic pieces of music that he created. Yet, in the face of this adversity, he was able to maintain his ideals--that of composing music.
To exemplify what success means to me, I pose a question to all of you. What brings us together here today? I believe that it is the beauty of the spoken word. The effect of pause and the sound of rhetoric are unique to the spoken word. I believe the beauty of the spoken word is even stronger for those who have difficulty in expressing themselves.
These people are reclusive and had their emotions hidden within them. I once went to Australia and I saw two pictures, Once was drawn by a normal child, the other was drawn by a child with social inhibitions. The picture drawn by the normal child was simple and plain. The other was life-like, full of details and imagination. What this shows is that these are ideas, emotions and feelings that are locked internally in thesechildren.
My ideal is to be the key, spreading the beauty of the spoken words to these children. These children have been neglected, but I feel that I can and should help these children to find themselves and be able to express themselves.
I realize that this is a difficult task, and there are many obstacles on the way. But I believe in my ideals and I will stick to them--even in the face of adversity. We should never have a premature abortion of ideals--let the child, let our ideals, stand the challenge. For a life without ideals is not living.

非常高興參加分行“英語角”的開班活動。自今年**月分行團(tuán)委開始籌備“英語角”活動，團(tuán)委在活動的籌備及舉辦上做了大量的'工作，并得到了分行領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的大力支持。在此，我首先對分行領(lǐng)導(dǎo)以及團(tuán)委的工作人員表示衷心感謝！
我行一直是一家充滿激情、充滿活力的銀行，是一家銳意進(jìn)取、不斷拓新的銀行，更是一家青年員工多、文化程度高、創(chuàng)新意識強(qiáng)的“年輕”銀行。分行近年來青年員工所占比例逐步增加，目前35歲以下員工已占全行員工的**%，青年員工是我行未來業(yè)務(wù)發(fā)展的支柱。為推進(jìn)分行學(xué)習(xí)型組織的建設(shè)，更好地支持和服務(wù)分行業(yè)務(wù)發(fā)展，團(tuán)委組織了此次“英語角”活動，希望通過各種趣味性高、內(nèi)容豐富的活動以提高分行員工英語實(shí)際運(yùn)用能力，營造分行良好的學(xué)習(xí)氛圍，同時為未來分行業(yè)務(wù)做好人員及技能儲備。這項(xiàng)活動具有非常重要的意義，對我們的青年員工也是一個提高自己的良好契機(jī)和平臺。在此，我希望廣大青年員工及其他有興趣的分行員工積極參加“英語角”活動，提高自身英語實(shí)際運(yùn)用能力及水平。

尊敬的各位家長：
晚上好！
今天，我很榮幸地在這里，作為你們孩子的英語老師，和你們共同探討一下“怎樣幫助孩子學(xué)好英語”，由于水平有限，在各位家長面前班門弄斧，不當(dāng)之處，敬請批評指正。
首先介紹一下教材，是跟我們?nèi)⑺摹⑽迥昙売⒄Z教材相銜接的，也是和我們的初中英語相配套的，如果你以前的英語沒有學(xué)好，那相對來說，你現(xiàn)在學(xué)得比較累；同樣地，如果你現(xiàn)在不學(xué)好英語，那將來的英語學(xué)習(xí)也是不難想象的。因?yàn)楝F(xiàn)在小學(xué)英語，如果有心的家長仔細(xì)看的話，會發(fā)現(xiàn)小學(xué)英語的詞匯量與語法是無法想象的。 所以我們只有現(xiàn)在打好良好的基礎(chǔ)，才不會導(dǎo)致英語越學(xué)越難在、越學(xué)越差。
這一班學(xué)生在英語方面是我剛剛接手的，每個學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)情況我還在不斷的了解之中，其實(shí)在座的家長對自己子女的情況比我更加清楚。學(xué)生們都是在三年級時同一起跑線上起跑的，經(jīng)過三年來的學(xué)習(xí)，學(xué)生與學(xué)生之間已經(jīng)拉開了差距。一些好的學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)興趣濃，學(xué)習(xí)勁頭足，課堂上積極思維，踴躍發(fā)言，課后及時鞏固，形成良性循環(huán)的好勢頭。他們的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣好，在聽、說、讀、寫方面都能齊頭并進(jìn)，我為他們感到欣慰。可也有一些學(xué)生，平時學(xué)習(xí)馬虎，基礎(chǔ)不扎實(shí)，功虧一簣，導(dǎo)致他們現(xiàn)在課上聽講出現(xiàn)困難，用他們自己的話說：“老師上課，我聽不懂。”聽不懂，還不努力，書面作業(yè)拖拉不交，口頭作業(yè)根本不完成，如此一來，學(xué)習(xí)自然成了件頭痛事，麻煩事。其實(shí)，大部分的學(xué)生還是處于中間層次，老師所教的，所布置的作業(yè)能夠基本完成，但學(xué)習(xí)的效率又因人而異，存在著個體差別。盡管他 們平時不需要老師操太多的心，費(fèi)太大的力，但是說起各方面的表現(xiàn)，又總有一絲遺憾，我們總希望他們能夠再上一個臺階。
我曾經(jīng)看到過這樣一個比喻，說醫(yī)生能夠給予病人的是處方，而病人能夠康復(fù)的關(guān)鍵就是能有很好的'護(hù)理。在我們教學(xué)中也是這樣的，我們老師就好象是醫(yī)生，給了一個學(xué)生方法，一張學(xué)習(xí)的處方，而關(guān)鍵就是看家長這個護(hù)工有沒有做到出色的護(hù)理工作。
我們這些醫(yī)生又是怎么做的呢，我向大家匯報(bào)一下我們英語老師的日常工作。我們六年級英語組有四位老師。每周五我們會用半天的時間來總結(jié)本周的工作，安排下一周的工作，然后分頭備課。每天早上上課前的20分鐘我們都會討論今天課上的重點(diǎn)、難點(diǎn)，每天的家庭作業(yè)和課堂作業(yè)都是統(tǒng)一布置的。每一份作業(yè)我們都會做到“有做必收，有收必批，有批必評，有評必改”的十六字方針，所以我敢說，我們班的每位同學(xué)的每分作業(yè)我都是每天都過關(guān)了再回家的，除非我不在學(xué)校，所以，只要我是您孩子一天的英語老師，就請您放100個心，我會公平地對待每一個孩子。
但是究竟在家怎樣幫助孩子學(xué)好英語呢？我們老師自然是最直接的知識傳授者，有著不可推卸的責(zé)任。在此，我們只是真誠地呼吁我們的家長配合學(xué)校，配合老師，靠我們共同的努力來幫助孩子學(xué)好英語。用一句時髦的話說：我們要和孩子共同成長。
重視良好的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣的培養(yǎng)
（1） 讓孩子多聽錄音 在少兒英語教學(xué)中，首先是加強(qiáng)聽力訓(xùn)練和說話訓(xùn)練，然后才是讀寫能力的培養(yǎng)。聽說能力差，用英語進(jìn)行交際的能力差，為此，家長一定要配合學(xué)校來要求孩子， 要創(chuàng)造條件讓孩子多聽，多聽純正的錄音，聽幾遍、聽清楚了以后，跟著說。按照眼前利益來看，我們的升學(xué)考試也一年比一年注重聽力、閱讀等需要綜合能力的部分。
（2）讓孩子大聲說英語 家長要每天留出15分鐘左右時間讓孩子讀讀英語，不管當(dāng)天有無英語課。我們要鼓勵孩子大聲地朗讀、對話、問答，大聲說，不害羞，這樣有利于清楚地表達(dá)自己，也有利于他人糾正自己的錯誤。
（3） 讓孩子熟練背誦課文和單詞背誦是一項(xiàng)基本功，可以積累一些日常用語，到用的時等候就可以脫口而出。但是在背誦過程中要講究方法，不可操之過急，要注意分散和集中相結(jié)合。我們一般是分段教課文，那就可以請學(xué)生分段背課文。等快教完的時候，再把課文串起來背，這樣可以降低一點(diǎn)難度，讓學(xué)生背得輕松些。但是在檢查過程中，我們發(fā)現(xiàn)有一部分學(xué)生背得相當(dāng)熟練，
可問他課文中的某個詞組或句子的意思時，他卻一問三不知。所以，我們在背誦過程中要注意上下文的理解，在理解的基礎(chǔ)上達(dá)到背誦的要求，課文中涉及到的相關(guān)詞組和句型，要讓學(xué)生熟記，并能用它們來造句、說話。
單詞亦是如此，分散記憶、根據(jù)讀音記憶單詞都是可取的方法。有時，我們回家布置抄寫單詞，其目的不在于抄，而在于提醒學(xué)生記憶這些單詞。但是在日常學(xué)習(xí)中，學(xué)生不重視這項(xiàng)作業(yè)，認(rèn)為只是抄抄而已，不做也沒什么關(guān)系，其實(shí)他連抄寫都不做，根本別說是去背了，結(jié)果幾次下來，他負(fù)債累累，應(yīng)付不過來，學(xué)習(xí)處于被動狀態(tài)，從而影響了以后的學(xué)習(xí)，出現(xiàn)退步現(xiàn)象。因此，請大家在家里督促孩子保質(zhì)保量地完成英語作業(yè)，該讀的讀、該說的說、該寫的寫、該記的記，及時鞏固，養(yǎng)成良好的習(xí)慣。父母親的良好榜樣起著很大作用。孩子一般還沒有明確的學(xué)習(xí)目的，這時，父母親對學(xué)習(xí)的態(tài)度，特別是行為，會極大地影響孩子。
孩子是每個家庭的重心和希望，有一位家長說過：“要把培養(yǎng)孩子當(dāng)作自己的事業(yè)來做。”是啊，只要你多投入一點(diǎn)，相信你的孩子會給予你更多的回報(bào)！

各位領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、各位老師：
下午好！今年，我們的孩子進(jìn)入了小學(xué)階段最關(guān)鍵的一年，關(guān)于英語學(xué)習(xí)的重要性，我就不想贅述了，大家看看滿大街的英語培訓(xùn)機(jī)構(gòu)、到處散發(fā)的英語輔導(dǎo)小廣告就知道了。今天主要談兩點(diǎn)，一是孩子英語學(xué)習(xí)的現(xiàn)狀，二是我在今后的努力方向。
由于我們是農(nóng)村學(xué)校，英語學(xué)科的學(xué)習(xí)可以算是一個硬傷！在畢業(yè)考中要想取得與數(shù)學(xué)、語文、科學(xué)同等的好成績這個結(jié)果，無論是對于教師還是學(xué)生都是一個非常艱巨的任務(wù)。首先對于學(xué)生來說，英語這一科完全是陌生的學(xué)科，我們學(xué)校只有短短三年的系統(tǒng)學(xué)習(xí)的時間，就好比上到3年級的知識卻要考6年級的難度，怎么可能呢？而對于老師來說，在遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)少于其他學(xué)科的有限的時間中，要將一年級的孩子直接教到六年級的水平也只能選擇純粹的知識灌輸，這就免不了少了讓孩子體會循序漸進(jìn)的這種大量樂趣，從而使一部分學(xué)生喪失了對這一學(xué)科的興趣和熱情，給教學(xué)帶來了不便。
雖然，在平時的教學(xué)工作中，我已經(jīng)盡量使用多媒體，并且堅(jiān)持每節(jié)課有課前熱身活動：如小詩，歌曲，身體律動等等，但是問題也隨之而來--這些被有趣小知識占用的時間就會影響應(yīng)試的大知識的傳授。所以，我一直有個困惑，英語學(xué)科的興趣培養(yǎng)和知識教學(xué)到底應(yīng)該怎么樣來協(xié)調(diào)和融合？
以上是我對英語學(xué)科現(xiàn)狀的.一些感受，下面是孩子們的學(xué)習(xí)情況。 從期中之前的情況來看呢，我感覺孩子學(xué)習(xí)勁頭還是比較足的。大多數(shù)孩子上課時能夠認(rèn)真聽講、積極發(fā)言，還有一些孩子學(xué)習(xí)很踏實(shí)、很用心，絕大部分同學(xué)同學(xué)作業(yè)都能按時完成。但是完成質(zhì)量高的不多。比如，我布置的默寫單詞、詞組，一些同學(xué)根本就是抄一遍了事，沒有掌握單詞的拼寫。要求背誦課文，有的同學(xué)連讀都不讀，這在第二天的課堂上都能體現(xiàn)出來。
第二個感覺呢，從我們期中測驗(yàn)卷上可以看得出，成績不夠理想。從卷面反饋來看，同學(xué)們的基礎(chǔ)比較薄弱。單詞拼寫錯誤多說明單詞背得不熟練，句型搭配、連詞成句錯的多說明課文不熟悉，而書面表達(dá)也體現(xiàn)了孩子們綜合知識的運(yùn)用能力還欠缺。最終反映出課后功夫下的不夠。
今年學(xué)校同樣非常重視六年級，對英語也是提到了要特別提高。所以，對于我們這一屆孩子我們學(xué)校是寄予了很大希望的，作為老師我們也是滿懷信心和熱情。作為不經(jīng)常使用的外語，僅靠課堂上的四十分鐘是遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不夠的，大量的讀背默要在課外完成，這些也是英語學(xué)習(xí)的基礎(chǔ)，對于自制力較弱的孩子來說，我覺得家長的督促尤為重要。 所以在上次開家長會時我請家長們一定要做好督促工作。
1、每天的作業(yè)都記在家庭作業(yè)本上，請家長在作業(yè)本上簽字。簽字的目的，不是為了簽字而簽字，讀，讀了么，是不是跟錄音讀的；背，背的熟不熟。每天的作業(yè)老師指出的錯誤及時糾正了么。
2、默單詞、詞組不是默完就算，一定要讓孩子對著書檢查一遍，把錯的改正再背會，才真正起到默的效果。每課的的單詞默寫，一般要求當(dāng)天教當(dāng)天默。這是符合人的遺忘規(guī)律的。效果要比過幾天補(bǔ)要好的多，這樣，在學(xué)校默的時候，學(xué)生就有底氣，正確率高，這也是一次成功的體驗(yàn)，可以增強(qiáng)孩子學(xué)習(xí)英語的信心。
3、經(jīng)常檢查孩子的書，一是可以看出孩子上課是否認(rèn)真聽了、記了，二是督促孩子及時復(fù)習(xí)老師上課是講的重點(diǎn)。

3、看孩子的試卷，不是光看看分?jǐn)?shù)就完了，要了解孩子為什么錯，是單詞沒記住，是上課沒注意聽，還有就是把老師評講的要點(diǎn)讓孩子認(rèn)真復(fù)習(xí)。幫助孩子把試卷保存好，每次期中期末考試前把所有的試卷翻看一遍，專看老師記的重點(diǎn)和自己的錯題是非常有效的方法，起到事半功倍的效果。
其實(shí)眾所周知：學(xué)英語并沒有多少技巧，也不需要多聰明，關(guān)鍵的字只有兩個“功夫”！在這小學(xué)最關(guān)鍵的一年，我會在孩子身上下更多點(diǎn)功夫，主要集中在句子練習(xí)和書面表達(dá)這兩個薄弱環(huán)節(jié)上，讓到孩子們上中學(xué)的時候能輕松一點(diǎn)。
最終一句話，革命尚未成功，同志尚需努力，這一年，我會和他們一起努力，加油！
