multiply的用法
multiply可用作及物動(dòng)詞,也可用作不及物動(dòng)詞。用作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí),接名詞或代詞作賓語。
（1）用作及物動(dòng)詞
If you multiply four by five, the answer is twenty.
四乘以五,答案是二十。
Let us multiply the height by the width to determine the area.
用寬乘以高來確定面積。
（2）用作不及物動(dòng)詞
He learned to multiply at the age of five.
他五歲學(xué)會(huì)做乘法。
The little boy can add, subtract and multiply, but cannot divide.
那小男孩會(huì)做加法、減法和乘法，但不會(huì)做除法。
3.multiply作“相乘”解時(shí)常與介詞by連用。
Three multiplied by four makes twelve.
3乘以4得12。
4.multiply up (v.+adv.) 增加…數(shù)量
The costs have been multiplied up many times.
費(fèi)用已增加了許多倍。
